Time frame allowed for lane closure setup (e.g., 9:00am to 3:30pm)
For the most part, lane closure setup is an urban area problem for Utah. The regional traffic engineer looks at the project and determines what effect construction will have on traffic flows and at what times and will provide the best starting times and end times for the contractors. Signs are allowed to go into place prior to the time (1 hour) but closures cannot start until the time has been reached. These times can be adjusted depending on the major traffic flow during the day (i.e., into the city 6am to 9am no lane closures, out of the city 3pm to 7pm no lane closures). Lane opening should be completed by the specified time. Rural highways to major destination points during holiday periods, especially to national parks, lakes, etc., do not allow any lane restrictions.
