Traffic control for volunteer litter pickup crews
Indiana requires adopt-a-highway groups to put out “road/shoulder work ahead” signs at the ends of the pickup area. Participants must wear safety vests. The signs (typically rollup) and vests (along with trash bags) are provided by the local maintenance unit. The groups are to return the signs and vests when they are finished. The state does not allow adopt-a-highway groups to pick up on interstates.
