13 Investigates: Ticket-Writing in Highway Work Zones

Author/Presenter: Runevitch, Jennie
Abstract:

Indiana State Police have started a new effort to crack down on construction zone speeders. 13 Investigates looked through traffic data and identified areas where troopers have issued the most tickets. The state police plan to implement a new tool in the fight against unsafe driving, white ram trucks made to look like Indiana Department of Transportation work trucks but operated by troopers using radar. The goal is not to write as many tickets as possible, but to change motorists’ behavior and make work zones safe for everyone.
