ARTBA Foundation Announces 2008 “Work Zone Safety Awareness Award” Winners
Abstract:The American Road & Transportation Builders Association Transportation Development Foundation (ARTBA-TDF) eighth annual “Roadway Work Zone Safety Awareness Awards” lunch was held October 22 at the ARTBA National Convention in Chicago, Ill. The award recognizes outstanding efforts to help reduce roadway work zone accidents, injuries and fatalities. The awards are divided into four categories: private outreach campaigns, government outreach programs, safety training and innovations in technology. Associated General Contractors of Texas (AGC)’s “Highway Construction Work Zone Hazards DVD Training Video”, Curran Contracting Company’s “Work Zone Safety Driver’s Education Campaign”, California Department of Transportation (Caltrans)’s “Slow for the Cone Zone”, Weber County Constructors’s “I-15 New Ogden Weber Expansion Safety Training Program”, American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA)’s “ATSSA Roadway Safety Training”, Tie: Transpo Industries, Inc.’s “SonoBlaster ® Dual Alertâ„¢ Work Zone Intrusion Alarm”, and Tie: Energy Absorption Systems, Inc.’s “Vorteq Truck Mounted Attenuation System” are the first place winners in those categories.
