Caltrans Wheels out Barrier to Protect Road Workers

Abstract:

Caltrans has developed a protective road barrier, Balsi Beam Trailer, to protect maintenance workers on highways. The work on developing the Balsi Beam Trailer started in 2003 after two highway workers were hit by a car crashing into a work zone. Currently five models are in operation across California.
