Caution Urged After 26 Incidents in I-64, I-264 Work Zones

Since the start of the I-64/I-264 Pavement Rehabilitation Project corridor in February, there have been 26 incidents in work zones. Most were caused by excessive speed, driver inattention and driver impairment. Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and Virginia State Police kicked off a work zone safety campaign Wednesday at VDOT Transportation Operations Center in Virginia Beach to remind drivers to be extra careful when driving along work zones.
