Cops in Construction Zones not Costing City Cash

Author/Presenter: Travis, Natalie
Abstract:

Residents of Anchorage, Alaska are beginning to question whether or not police officers are being utilized efficiently. Many believe police officers parked in work zones are being paid for doing nothing. It is important for those with this mindset to understand that an officer presence is required to receive federal funding for the state’s highway construction projects. The municipal law of Anchorage also requires the use of police details. Furthermore, those used in work zones are off duty officers and their presence can save lives.
