ITS, Detector Reduce Work Zone Risks

Abstract:

An ITS (Intelligent Transportation System) concept is discussed in the article. It is known as CHIPS (Computerized Highway Information Processing System) and relies on the queue length detector to alert drivers to traffic conditions ahead. The article discusses the benefits and cost savings of using the system.
