Lawmen Targeting Speeding on I-95 in Lumberton

Author/Presenter: Locklear, James
Abstract:

Robeson County lawmen plan to crack down on motorists who speed through an Interstate 95 construction zone in Lumberton. The state Highway Patrol, Lumberton police and the state Division of Motor Vehicles plan to increase their presence along the six-mile corridor and enforce the 55-mph speed limit. A series of traffic fatalities two years ago prompted officials to lower the speed limit from 65 mph to 55 mph in approach zones three miles north and three miles south of Lumberton. The limit had been reduced to 55 mph on the six miles of highway inside the city’s boundaries in 1994.
