Move Over or Slow Down for Stopped Emergency, Maintenance or Road Assistance Vehicles

After a California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) employee was killed in a roadside crash in Acton, California, Caltrans called a temporary stop to all routine highway maintenance activities to revisit and reinforce all aspects of field safety.   This article discusses safety issues and costs associated with work zone crashes.   It also includes a list of recommendations the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health made for workers to stay safe in work zones.
