N.J. Contractors’ ‘Safety Day’ Promotes Safe Driving in Work Zones
Author/Presenter: Frassinelli, MikeAbstract:
In 2008, 720 people were killed in work zones nationwide, including seven in New Jersey. Most crashes in work zones are due to inattentive driving or following too closely. Associated General Contractors (AGC) holds a Safety Day to highlight the importance of safe driving in work zones. AGC members place banners and message boards near their work zones to remind motorists about the importance of safe driving. Also, a display near the Tilcon work zone shows the end result of drivers who fail to pay attention: Crushed construction vehicles, cones and barrels.
