Roadway Construction Zone Fatalities Hit Record High in 2001, Federal Data Show
Abstract:A total of 1,079 people were killed during 2001 in roadway construction zone accidents according to federal data recently posted at the National Work Zone Safety Information Clearinghouse. Texas led the nation in the roadway construction fatalities in 2001 with 140, followed by California (112), Georgia (82), Florida (56) and Maryland (53).
