Safety Cameras Should be Used on Construction Sites: MPP

Abstract:

The Highways Traffic Amendment Act of Ontario is intoduced to allow the use of traffic safety cameras in highway work zones and near schools. The cameras are to be installed if approved by local municipalities throughout the province. A recent survey concluded that 67% of Ontarian citizens support the use of safety cameras in work zones and near schools, and 82% believe enhanced law enforcement will increase safety in these areas. Although the bill is controversial because of the recent repeal of a similar bill, the province is optimistic about using technology to make roads and construction zones safer.
