Speed Cameras in Howard County? Not So Fast, Say Opponents
Author/Presenter: Jefferson, BrandieAbstract:
At a public hearing about the legislation that would allow the use of mobile speed cameras in Howard County school and work zones, 40 people were in favor of the legislation and 17, against it. Those who were in favor believed that speed cameras would slow down motorists in school and work zones. Those who opposed argued that mistakes were made by speed cameras in other counties that led to tickets being issued unfairly. If the legislation passes, the police department would initially buy two vans equipped with speed cameras.
