State’s Work Zone Crashes Decline; Driver Behavior Still a Concern
Abstract:The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) recently released the 2008 crash data, which shows a 9 percent decrease in the total number of crashes in work zones statewide. In an effort to promote work zone safety in 2009, MDOT has developed a 30-second public service announcement expected to air on radio stations statewide from Memorial Day to Labor Day. It will also provide special funding to the Michigan State Police for overtime patrols in work zones.
