TDOT Hot Line Gets Mostly Polite Calls About Road Work
Author/Presenter: Edwards, HollyAbstract:
‘Hey, how y’all doin” Hey, ‘preciate y’all workin’ so hard and carin’ enough to hear our complaints. I just want to know when 840 is gonna be done. … Bless you and keep up the good work.” This call is among about 500 messages that have flooded the Tennessee Department of Transportation’s new toll-free hot line since it was started Monday. Although the vast majority of the recorded messages describe specific concerns or complaints, about one-fifth are angry, profanity-laced messages lambasting the department. Transportation officials are surprised by the polite tone of most of the calls.
