Contractor identification sign in work zones

Washington DOT allows the use of contractor identification signs on projects and has developed criteria for their use. There are two signs that are used and the criteria can be viewed at the following link:
End Road Work “Thank You” Sign:
With increased emphasis on customer focus and accountability in Washington, this sign was developed to thank and inform drivers with the hope of eliminating public misunderstanding about who is doing the work.
– Sign is used in addition to the “end road work” sign and will be used on projects with significant roadway construction activities. No definition has been provided as to what “significant” activities may be so it leaves some discretion to the project engineer.
– FHWA does not oppose use of the sign but does not participate in the cost.
Project Funding Sign:
This sign is required on all projects funded by new nickel gas tax revenue. WSDOT wanted to ensure that the public clearly can identify the construction projects made possible by the gas tax funding. The use of the signs for non-nickel projects is up to the local regional administrator.

State/Agency: Washington
Topics: Traffic Signs
