Design and oversight of work zone operations

Kentucky DOT’s Division of Traffic Operations develops standard drawings for temporary traffic control. The Division of Construction develops specifications for temporary traffic control. Traffic control on projects is typically designed by consultants with plan reviews/approvals by the project team. Within the construction phase, temporary traffic control is monitored by construction inspectors.
The Construction Office in the Central Office performs annual work zone reviews (projects in approximately half of districts are reviewed each year).
