Lane closures in rainy weather
Georgia DOT has no set policy for removing lane closures when rain is expected or starts. The use of common sense is expected when planning any work that requires an extended lane closure, such as bridge deck and approach slab repairs, concrete slab replacement on Portland Cement Concrete roadways, or a traffic shift or staging changes that require placement of asphalt concrete in order to complete the shift.
The weather forecast is considered before commencing any operation that has a “point of no return” where the operation must be completed before the lane(s) can be reopened. The GDOT supervisor of the project has the final decision to allow or disapprove any lane closures.
