Lane lines in work zones
For standard applications, TxDOT’s typical lane line width is 4 inches. Lane lines wider than the typical width are allowed.
Using engineering judgment, TxDOT district offices may select to use wider lane lines (typically 6 inches). This practice is usually limited to interstate highways and higher-volume expressway/freeway sections.
TxDOT does not implement wider lane lines in work zones. Work zone markings use 4 inch lines and are supplemented with reflective raised pavement markings.
