Penalty for failing to promptly open lanes beyond the lane closure limit
Maine DOT has established a fee for failure to open roadway lanes. The most recent charge was an interstate project (rural-commuter) with a fee of $250 per half hour. It was flat rate based on estimated user costs for failure to have the roadway open for that period of time and, therefore, it did not vary by delay or queue length.
