Traffic management techniques (beyond the MUTCD) used to reduce accidents in work zones
New Hampshire, in cooperation with FHWA, developed work zone traffic control standard plans illustrating placement of permanent construction signing, lane shifts, lane closures and certain amendments to Revision 3 (Part 6) of the MUTCD. To slow traffic, uniformed officers with (police) vehicles are used along with a state law providing fines for speeding through work zones of between $250.00 and $500.00.
