New traffic control methods for mobile work zones and their effectiveness in reducing crashes
The biggest change South Carolina has made is to replace the truck-mounted advance arrow panel on the initial shadow vehicle encountered by traffic with a truck-mounted changeable message sign. This has proven to be very helpful, especially on the interstates, during mobile operations in the left lane. The state has no specific numbers for crash avoidance but all the feedback from contractors has been very positive.
