Lane closures in rainy weather
In contracts without time restrictions for temporary lane closure installations or removals, the North Carolina Department of Transportation requires removal of the temporary lane closure only when the contractor is no longer pursuing scheduled work or when a lane closure is no longer needed within a roadway.
In contracts with specific time restrictions for temporary lane closure installations and removals, usually necessary on high-volume roadways, the contractor may leave the lane closure in place if rain starts as long as it does not violate contract time restrictions.
