North Carolina obtains actual traffic count data to establish work/non-work periods, restricts construction hauling operations during peak hours, provides for normal travel lane widths whenever possible during construction, ensures temporary traffic alignments that provide good site/braking distances, prohibits lane closures during peak hours, creates detour routes for oversized vehicles (wide loads), and maintains towing contracts for disabled or abandoned vehicles during construction.
