Application of types of temporary/removable pavement marking material and special linestriping material

Depending on the type of roadway surfacing to be placed, the North Dakota DOT uses the following for work zone temporary pavement:
For pavement recycling on divided highways where two-lane two-way traffic is to be placed on one of the roadways, markings use double yellow raised pavement markers at 5 foot centers and flexible delineators at 100 foot spacing (except at ramp connections, where spacing is reduced to 25 foot). The existing dashed center line markings are obliterated. The median side edgeline is changed to white.
For overlay asphalt pavement on all highways, short-term pavement marking is provided using paint, raised markers, or removable tape on each lift. Permanent pavement markings depend on the traffic volumes; paint, epoxy, or grooved pavement markings might be used.
