Use of flashing stop/slow paddle
Oklahoma DOT acquired a flashing stop/slow paddle in the summer of 1995 and used it at several work zones in Stephens County.
Assessment:
The paddle was a huge success. “The first thing about the paddle that comes to mind is that it really gets the driver’s attention,” says Dale Bradshaw of the Oklahoma DOT. By attracting attention, flaggers say, the flashing light helped them feel safer.<b
