Removing temporary traffic control devices with the flow of traffic vs. backing the work vehicle behind to remove the devices
Illinois allows removal of channelizing devices with the flow of traffic if the process is done using truck-mounted attenuators on vehicles in front of the removal process (very similar to TA-35 in Chapter 6 of the MUTCD). Advance signing is then picked up. This type of operation is currently only done with in-house crews. Removing the devices in reverse order is required by Illinois specifications for contractors.
