Temporary Movable (“Zipper”) Barrier systems in work zones

Illinois does not have a specification for temporary movable barrier systems. The state has used them successfully on a few specific projects. One project in particular, the rehabilitation of the McCluggage Bridge in Peoria, has been showcased by the Federal Highway Administration. Visit the FHWA website to view the presentation on the project.
