Single-post, temporary sign support with sandbag ballast

Texas DOT has approved 3 designs for single-post skid-type sign supports where sandbag ballasting is appropriate. They are detailed in their “Compliant Work Zone Traffic Control Devices List” which can be accessed on the given web site. All three of the designs are primarily used for 3’x3′ signs but are held to a maximum of 12 square feet of sign face for wind loading reasons. The square steel tubing support is further restricted to using lightweight plastic sign substrates (no wood or aluminum substrates).
