State rules or regulations that require 24 hour maintenance of temporary traffic warning devices along highway work zones
Wisconsin’s Standard Specifications require the contractor to provide 24-hour emergency service, but does not require someone to be on site 24 hours per day.
Some Wisconsin contracts use a bid item “Traffic Control Surveillance & Maintenance.” This item requires the contractor to reach the work site within two hours of being contacted to correct any traffic control problems.
