Work zone speed limit
Maine reduces speed limits on some high-volume or high-speed roadways. The speed is not reduced below 25 mph.
All interstate projects can have reduced speed, including all classes of high-speed and/or high-volume roadways.
Communication to motorists include static white speed limit signs with work zone and fines-doubled signs attached. Sometimes PCMS.
Whether the speed reduction applies 24/7 or not depends on the stage of construction. When traffic is traveling on a gravel or milled surface, the restriction is typically all day. When traveling on pavement, the restriction is typically lifted at night.
Maine covers the signs when not needed.
Maine does not use flashing beacons.
