5 Workers Killed after Elderly Driver Loses Control: Accident Occurred on Country’s First Annual ‘Put the Brakes on Fatalities Day’

An 81-year-old man lost control of his apple delivery truck Wednesday and plowed through a construction zone, killing five workers on the nation’s first annual “Put the Brakes on Fatalities Day.” The goal of the program is to have zero traffic deaths on the designated day. A state police accident reconstruction team has not determined the cause of the accident.
