A Driver Questions Work Zone Speed Limits in Maryland
Author/Presenter: Thomson, RobertAbstract:
In a letter to Dr. Gridlock, David Rabadan of Annandale asked why drivers are given a 12-‰mph “free pass” to speed, suggesting that Maryland’s law is too easy on speeders. In his response, Dr. Gridlock explained that, according to Maryland State Highway officials, every work zone environment is reviewed individually. They take into account of all aspects when setting work zone speed limits. Law enforcement is neither advertising nor giving “free passes” to speed up to 12 mph over. It is simply the buffer that lawmakers agreed upon.
