A Safer Highway Project Through Deployment of ITS

This article describes how Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) were applied during a construction project on the Gowanus Expressway in Brooklyn, New York. Traffic control centers, high occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes, incident management, and traffic information systems were some of the features implemented to enhance work zone safety and prevent job-site accidents.
