A Status Report on AASHTO’s Task Force on Retroreflectivity Guides
Abstract:FHWA is required by law to develop minimum retroreflectivity values for traffic signs and pavement markings, and to place them in the MUTCD. In response to FHWA’s plans, AASHTO’s Standing Committee on Highways (SCOH) requested FHWA to delay the rulemaking until they could review the matter to insure that the MUTCD included manageable and flexible standards. SCOH subsequently established a “Task Force on Retroreflectivity Guides” early in 1999. The subcommittee held a teleconference in March and two meetings in Washington D.C., one in April and one in September.
