ADOT Wins 2 National Awards for Public Outreach on Major Projects
Abstract:The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) ’s Office of Communications and Public Involvement received two top national awards during AASHTO’s TransComm conference for its public outreach efforts on major freeway projects. The I-17 Improvement Project was honored for its consultant-supported public involvement strategy that used diverse communication tools to inform the public about widening work and Arizona’s first flex lanes. The I-10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project earned AASHTO’s highest public relations recognition for its comprehensive outreach campaign, which included paid advertising and a dedicated project app to keep drivers informed during the multi-year reconstruction of a heavily traveled freeway corridor.
