ARDOT Hosts Oklahoma Department of Transportation to Showcase Speed Enforcement Cameras

Author/Presenter: Neuner, Dylan
Abstract:

The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) hosted the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) to demonstrate Arkansas’ work-zone speed enforcement camera system, implemented after a 2023 legislative change. ARDOT reports a 25% reduction in crashes since the cameras were introduced. Oklahoma officials, including ODOT Director Tim Gatz, observed the technology and its operations, expressing interest in pursuing similar measures in their state. Arkansas, the 28th state to adopt work-zone speed cameras, hopes broader regional and national adoption will strengthen roadway safety across the country.
