Construction Causing Confusion, Leading Some Drivers to Break Traffic Laws

Author/Presenter: Shea, Jack
Abstract:

FOX 8’s investigative team, along with traffic reporter Patty Harken, has exposed hazardous road conditions resulting from a construction project initiated by the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District. The project, aimed at curbing sewage overflow into Lake Erie and waterways, has led to the closure of southbound lanes on West 25th Street/Pearl Road between I-71 and Riverside Avenue. SkyFOX aerial footage reveals drivers disregarding lane closures, resorting to illegal U-turns, and even driving against traffic flow, posing severe risks. Witnesses from establishments like Westown Tire recount alarming incidents, highlighting the urgency for driver compliance with signage and detour routes. The project’s completion is slated for late December, emphasizing the crucial need for vigilance and adherence to traffic regulations to ensure public safety.
