Construction for the I-80 and Middle Road Interchange Near Bettendorf Has Begun

The Iowa Department of Transportation is advising motorists to expect traffic impacts from construction at the Interstate 80 and Middle Road interchange near Bettendorf. Work is underway to build a new eastbound I-80 on-ramp, scheduled to open in late 2025, after which the existing entrance loop will permanently close for bridge construction. Nightly lane closures on eastbound I-80 are planned through weekdays to install temporary pavement, with additional ramp and road closures anticipated in 2026 and 2027. Drivers are urged to use caution in the work zone, where fines are doubled, and to stay informed through Iowa’s 511 traveler information system.
