Construction Season Draws Attention to Work Zone Safety Issues in Ohio, West Virginia

Author/Presenter: Filson, Stephanie
Abstract:

Construction zones and traffic delays can be a source of frustration for drivers, but drives are mostly responsible for the safety of workers. Although the recent work zone crash data shows a decrease in number, the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) continues to do what it can to ensure the safety of its workers and the motorists by utilizing a media campaign and new technology. Beginning this year, it also refines its policy to require its contractors to use high-intensity flashing lights and reflective tape on all equipment in work zones.
