Design of Traffic Organization Program for Expressway Reconstruction Project: A Case Study in Hunan, China

Abstract:

This study presents a methodology to design the traffic organization program in an expressway reconstruction project. Based on the analysis of current traffic volume and traffic direction flow, an integrated traffic organization program combining on-site traffic organization and multi-media traffic organization was put forward. The first phase of Xiangtan to Leiyang Expressway project in Hunan. China was taken as a case study. Results revealed that the proposed method was effective and valid in maintaining the traffic diversion smoothly, orderly and safely.
