DOT Kicks off 2001 Road Construction Season with Work Zone Safety Message

Abstract:

AMES, IOWA – Finally–after a long, long winter–road crews are putting away their snowplows and getting out the barricades and cones to mark work zones on streets and roads throughout Iowa. While winter driving requires a certain set of skills, Iowa Department of Transportation officials are reminding motorists they need to be equally careful when driving during the construction and maintenance season. These work zones require extra caution on the part of drivers, and that need is being highlighted this week by the observance of National Work Zone Awareness Week in Iowa and throughout the nation.
