Drivers are Getting Caught in Highway 40 Work Zone

The lanes on Highway 40 (Interstate 64) are almost completely paved, but they are not ready for driving. Construction crews have reported several drivers ignoring the barricades and driving onto the highway. Trespassing on Highway 40 was a problem last year as well. MoDOT officials are concerned that thrill-seeking and impatient drivers could threaten the safety of road crews. They plan to talk with St. Louis police about patrolling the work zone and catch violators.
