Drivers: Watch for Construction — and Put Those Phones Down

Abstract:

The 2010 work zone crash data from Region 8 of the New York State Department of Transportation shows a decrease from 2009. The author attributed the decrease to the following efforts: the National Work Zone Safety Awareness Week program, the New York state law that bans cell phone use and texting while driving, and the state police’s enforcement efforts. The article emphasized that, while the National Work Zone Safety Awareness Week is over, the need for vigilance is not and enforcement of cellphone driving laws does not end, either.
