Gov. Quinn to Sign off on Texting-While-Driving Ban Today

Author/Presenter: Riopell, Mike
Abstract:

Gov. Pat Quinn plans to give final approval to a law ban texting while driving in Illinois. The law will be in effect on Jan. 1, 2010. Supporters say banning texting while driving is a simple matter of safety, wanting to keep drivers’ eyes on the road. Quinn also plans to make law a plan that would ban talking on the phone while driving in school zones and work zones. The texting legislation is House Bill 71. The ban on talking in work and school zones is House Bill 72.
