Have a Happy Ending When Traveling in Highway Construction Work Zones
Abstract:According to the Kansas Department of Transportation, eight people were killed and 575 people were injured in highway work zones last year across the state. What most people don’t realize is that nearly 80 percent of those injured or killed in construction work zones every year are the motorists. Transportation organizations are working together to participate in the annual National Work Zone Safety Awareness Week taking place April 7-11. The week-long observation brings to light the dangers that can be encountered and avoided when driving through roadway construction zones.
