Helping Save Lives Through a Website Resource

Abstract:

Launched twenty years ago under a contract between the Federal Highway Administration and the American Road & Transportation Builders Association, the National Work Zone Safety Information Clearinghouse is the world’s largest online information resource on work zone safety. This article cites the statistics that shows the reduction in work zone fatalities since the opening of the clearinghouse.   It summarizes the continued efforts of the clearinghouse staff in proving information on its website and making contents more accessible and user friendly. It concludes with a comment that the success of the clearinghouse is best measured by the accidents that have never happened.
