In Work Zones: Take It Easy, or Face Hard Time

With all the construction around town — and more to come, including the big shutdown of the Lodge Freeway at I-94 after Memorial Day — there’s never a bad time for a reminder that we need to slow down and drive cautiously through work zones. State officials will hold a news conference Thursday morning on the front steps of the state Capitol in Lansing to kick off the annual Give ‘Em a Brake campaign. New this year is the Michigan appearance of the traveling National Work Zone Memorial, a monument to workers killed nationwide in crashes in construction zones, including 26 workers and a motorist from Michigan.
