Work Zones can be a complicated and dangerous area, but much planning goes into them before a single orange barrel even gets placed. When the Missouri Department of Transportation planned two busy work zones on I-44, where traffic would go from a four lane divided highway into head to head single lane traffic, engineers used the latest technology to ensure smooth operation and safety.
